Couplamatic Systems Inc. Customers:

Regarding conversion from Hexavalent Chromium to Trivalent Chromium

Couplamatic Systems will be converting our plating processes to eliminate hexavalent chromium in the production of new hydraulic fittings.

The trivalent chromium plating will be silver in appearance, compared to the yellow that is currently being used.  Due to the large inventory that CSI maintains, it will be an extended period of time before all hexavalent chromium (yellow) is eliminated from stock.  During that time, there is the possibility of mixed shipments or components.  We will try to keep mixed components to a minimum, but some will be inevitable.  CSI will start coding the boxes with CR3 for the new trivalent plating, a # sign for mixed components, and no markings for the current hexavalent yellow plating.  The marking will be in the bottom right corner of the boxes.  We will be shipping all stock of hexavalent yellow plating first to get it out of inventory.

The new trivalent chromium plating will far exceed the 96 hour salt spray required by SAE, as well as meeting requirements of the European Union’s RoHS (Restrictions of Hazordous Substances) Directive.  There will be no price increases due to the switch in plating.

Please feel free to contact us at 1-800-824-3046 if you have any questions.

 Thank you for your business,
